There's a red light near my place of employment that is a pretty busy intersection regardless of what time of day or night it is. Well a few days ago we were unable to make right hand turns via the turn lane as it was completely ripped up by about 3-4 city of Augusta utility trucks and construction equipment. So we had to use the normal straight lanes and then make a right hand turn.

Now, it's been about a week since that happened. I've been using the right turn lane liberally as it had been repaired back to it's normal state. Now, we've been having a lot of rain recently so I don't know if this had something to do with it or not.. but..

I got off of work last night, hop on the bike, and go up to the intersection to make my right hand turn. This area isn't that well lit, it's pretty dark aside from the lights from other vehicles and lo' and behold, yours truly goes through not one dip in the pavement, but two. I went through TWO ditches last night on my bike! I was totally unprepared for it, but luckily, maintained control through it. I stopped before merging and looked back and was like, GEEZ! That's messed up!!! No construction sign, no notification of it. Just tough cookies, ride on through.

So tonight when I get off of work, I'm going to be going REAL SLOW and looking for these invisible ditches. I'm ready this time, Mr. Gaping Abyss who lies in wait to swallow motorcycle tires.
